Description:
The NMSC-001 Visual Coil is designed specifically for functional imaging of the human visual system. A unique dual loop quadrature design provides high sensitivity over the occipital lobe with extended coverage including the parietal and posterior temporal lobes. Signal to noise ratio is increased up to 300% over standard whole brain volume coils allowing a dramatic increase in the time and spatial resolution of functional studies.
Due to the high sensitivity provided by this coil over the primary and higher order visual processing areas, the initial versions of this design have been exclusively used at Massachusetts General Hospital for almost all visual functional studies. Used at several sites around the United States, results from NMSC-001 style visual coils have cumulatively been the basis of numerous scientific publications.
